Cruising the Cool: A Sizzling Summer in Chilly Scandinavia

Writer: Stephanie WuStephanie Wu

Hey, wanderlust warriors! What's up? It's time to dust off that family wagon and gear up for the most epic summer adventure ever. Forget the clichéd beachy sojourns; we're stepping into the magic world of Vikings, fjords, and the captivating Northern Lights – Scandinavia, baby!

Day 1-3: Copenhagen, Denmark

Kicking off our Nordic quest in style, we dove head-first into Copenhagen’s vibrant aura. The family gobbled up some traditional 'smørrebrød' (open-faced sandwiches) before we got our adrenaline pumping at Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world. To beat the summer heat, we dipped our toes into the clean harbors of Islands Brygge, a trendy urban hotspot for sunbathing, picnicking, and swimming. Just perfect!

Day 4-6: Stockholm, Sweden

Our second stop, Stockholm, spread across 14 islands, welcomed us with a breeze that carried the scent of sea and fresh pine. We started with the Vasa Museum, housing a 17th-century ship that was underwater for 333 years - pretty gnarly, huh? Then we ferried over to the open-air Skansen museum to see how Swedes lived in ye olden times. But the cherry on top was our late-night kayak tour under the city bridges, lit up like a Van Gogh painting.

Day 7-9: Oslo, Norway

Next up, the land of the fjords - Norway! Oslo's a feast for the eyes with its perfect blend of modern and traditional architecture. The Viking Ship Museum was a total blast, making us feel like we stepped into an episode of "Vikings". For a thrilling day out, the TusenFryd Amusement Park was an absolute hit with the kiddos! Oslo's summer vibes are real, and so was the temptation to dive into the Oslofjord's cool, clean waters.

Day 10-13: Bergen and the Fjords, Norway

We hit the road towards Bergen, swapping city vibes for jaw-dropping natural beauty. Riding the Fløibanen funicular for panoramic views of the city was a highlight, but nothing, I mean NOTHING, could prepare us for the awe-inspiring fjords. We explored the Nærøyfjord (a UNESCO World Heritage Site, mind you) on an eco-friendly electric ship, our jaws dropping at every twist and turn. Even the usually Instagram-obsessed teens were too mesmerized to look at their screens!

Day 14-16: Reykjavik and the Golden Circle, Iceland

Finishing strong in the land of fire and ice, our family fell head over heels for Iceland. The Golden Circle route was the star here, showcasing geysers, waterfalls, and a national park that straddles two tectonic plates! In Reykjavik, we checked out the stunning Hallgrímskirkja Church and then warmed up in the famous Blue Lagoon geothermal spa.

Day 17: Departure

Back home, our hearts were full, and our camera rolls were fuller. What a ride, folks! Scandinavia offered us all – fun, adventure, relaxation, and an endless list of natural and cultural wonders. The kids are already asking when we can return, and honestly, we're wondering the same.

If you're after a summer vacation that's anything but ordinary, pack your bags for Scandinavia. Its cool Nordic charm will heat up your family's summer like no other. Peace out! No matter what you do, don't forget to check out all our guides at www.OnlyTopHotels.com
